This is a very nice variety of Weigela noted equally as much for its foliage as its flowers. A dense, spreading, rounded shrub with burgundy colored foliage with a hint of green under color to it. Flowers are trumpet shaped, dark pink in color, and begin blooming as early as April in warmer climates. Once blooms start, they will last until the first of July.....even well into August if old expired flower heads are trimmed off & removed.
A very hardy grower - many times as much as 1ft per year, but can be maintained at virtually any desired height / shape with trimming. Good for use as a shrub border, or in group / mass plantings where a good mid-sized shrub is needed. Full sun to partial shade with average soil & water requirements make this a very versatile shrub that can be used in a wide variety of situations & locations.
